Ohio Star Block Swap
Due Date: October 27, 2007
Sign-up: Comment to this post with your email address, and the number of sets you will be sending. I will email you this information and my snail mail address so you can send the blocks when they are ready to ship.
This is a centralized block swap, meaning all blocks will be sent to one person (me) who will collect and swap all of the blocks.
Fabric: 100% cotton, pre-washed. Please use quality material. If you buy from Wal-Mart, please make sure you cannot see through the fabric. Batiks ARE allowed for this swap. Please DO NOT use any "theme" fabric, such as novelties or holiday prints. There will be swaps for those types of fabrics.
Colors: Using the Ohio Star pattern from Quilter's Cache found here, please use black fabric for the background (Color 3), and the same fabric for the center and the points of the star (colors 1 and 2). You may use ANY FABRIC for the star points and center, as long as the background is black. You do not need to use a solid black, you may use a tone-on-tone, marble, blender or any fabric that "reads" black from a distance.
Block size: 12 1/2" unfinished
Number of Blocks: One set is 4 blocks, you may send up to 6 sets. Each block in the set must be the same and each set must be different from the other sets. You may use the same background fabric in all of the sets. For example, if you choose to do 3 sets, one set might be hot pink with black Moda Marble, one set might be turquoise with black Kona cotton, one set might be lime green with black Hoffman hand-dye.
Due Date: Your blocks must be at my house by October 27, 2007. If I do not have your blocks on time, they will be returned to you unswapped. Blocks will be swapped and returned within 2 weeks.
Packaging: Label all of your blocks with your name, email and LJ username. Place all of your blocks in a large Ziploc baggie with your return address on the outside, in case the outer envelope comes open in the mail. Write the number of sets you are sending on the OUTSIDE of the envelope.
Mailing: I recommend the Tyvek priority mailing envelopes the post office has. Include a return envelope with enough postage to send your new blocks to you. Do not use a metered mail on your return envelope, the post office will not accept this. Non-US swappers, please email me about postage. There are a few different hoops we need to jump through.
Disclaimer: Swap hostess reserves the right to return, untraded, any blocks that do not meet the guidelines, are poorly constructed, or are in any way unsuitable for swapping. Please do your best quality work.
